What is QuoAnno?

QuoAnno is an endless timeline-guessing game. Place events from natural history, science, culture, technology, sport and more, then reveal the accepted date and your score.

Why does the timeline use BC and AD?

QuoAnno uses BC and AD consistently in the player-facing interface. AD means Anno Domini. There is no year zero between 1 BC and 1 AD.

How does scoring work?

Accepted answers earn 1000 points. Any other guess is measured in years from the nearest edge of the accepted range, then scored as a smooth decay against the event’s age: half marks at about 8% of that age, and never tighter than five years for recent events. There are no bands and no cut-off, so a closer guess always scores more.

Why are some answers ranges?

Some ancient and scientific events cannot be dated to one exact year. When the evidence supports a range, any guess inside that range is accepted.

Do I need an account?

No. Your player name, preferences and progress are stored locally in your browser.
